The opportunity
EY Netherlands is looking for a General Ledger employee to support from within the FAC. The General Ledger department is part of Finance and consists of five employees and a team leader. This team is responsible for the correct general ledger administration of EY Netherlands and its participation. As a financial spider in the web, the department maintains regular contact with both internal and external stakeholders. Due to the globalization of EY and outsourcing of sub-processes, the work area also has an international character.
Your key responsibilities
In daily operations, you work independently, and you make an important contribution in supporting the team leader (to whom you also report). You monitor the quality of the implementation of work processes and procedures, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and report these to the team leader. In addition, you answer ad hoc questions, both oral and in writing, to internal and external stakeholders. You also take initiative and responsibility with regard to your own performance and development. In this role, a pro-active attitude, numerical insight, and an interest in and insight into the financial-administrative processes are important. In addition, we are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with good social capabilities who likes to work in a team.
Skills and attributes for success
Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
Perform standard month-end close activities (i.a. accrual/prepaid postings, bank clearing posting)
Analyze general ledger accounts and provide variance analysis, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders
Ensure proper recording of financial transactions
Support managerial reporting and ad hoc requests
Support external auditors' information requests in a timely and accurate manner
Provide guidance and support to peers and other business partners on accounting matters
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance existing processes and establish new ones
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation, including AI usage
To qualify for the role, you must have
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
A minimum of three years of relevant working experience, preferably in a shared service accounting environment
Experience with SAP is a pro and proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel
Proven by experience knowledge of accounting principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks with strict deadlines
Attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Good written and spoken English
